Hi Erik,
My name is Bryon Gaskin and am from Indianapolis Indiana. Indianapolis is about 2.5 hours from Chicago. I like to study Spanish, work on the computer, ride bicycles, and go to the gym. I have never in my life played soccer, although in high school I played football.
Your teacher, Ms. Calderon, was my Spanish teacher for a couple of months. I took a Spanish class at Cetys in Mexcali, I think the year was 2001.
I agree this will be a good exercise for you. I must say, your English is pretty good. I don't know how much experience you have with English, but I think you should be able to get along well (with the English). P.S. (Don't worry your teacher's English is not 100%) ja ja.
I visited Ensenada in 2000. I went there with one of my best friends in the world. We went to Papas Y Beer, we also went to see the Bufadora, and went down by the ocean and enjoyed some "mangos con chili", so yes, I know these places. If I remember correctly Ensenada is one of the major ports in Mexico.
Interesting places in Indianapolis: Well probably the most famous landmark or place in Indianapolis is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway where the Indy 500 is ran each may. The Indianapolis area is approximately 3 times the size of Ensenada. Fitness is a big thing that people like to do here. There are several biking and running trails that bring people out doors.
The part of the city I live in is called "Broad Ripple". It is an "artys-fartzy" area. I am not sure how to explain "artzy-fartzy" I guess the closest term in Spanish is "Chido" but that is not an exact translation.
As far as sports go, I really don't watch too many sports. When I was younger I played football and wrestled, but as I have gotten older I work too much to watch sports. Que lastima no?
Erik, I had no problem understanding your letter. If you have problems understanding anything I wrote, let me know and I will try to explain better.
Ok, I will chat with you later.
Good luck with your project.
-Bryon
